Who doesn't love a local indie rock duo? Monoculture started back in 2008 as an acoustic partnership, made up of Jill McCracken and Mike Heubusch. Both playing their part on vocals, guitar, and drums, they have a simple yet captivating sound that can really draw you in. This past September, the duo opened up for Motopony - a show we covered in the Ninth Ward at Babeville. With influences from Ani DeFranco, The Black Keys, and Jenny Lewis, both McCracken and Heubusch have found a great musical connection with each other. The soul and blues sound, mixed with some pop melodies really make for a nice finished product. Although their next show is TBA at the moment, we will be sure to preview that for you guys in the future. Keep an eye on this group to bring some great local taste to the indie rock market.
