Tonight: "Get Local" Showcase

Tonight, Eclectic Collective Entertainment presents its "Get Local" showcase at Nietzsche's; a showcase of three of Buffalo's best emerging and wildly progressive acts. Tonight's showcases three distinctly different, yet appropriately billed acts, that are built around their progressive and improvisational natures. Opening the show will be rising stars Slip Madigan. Slip is a freight train gaining speed, whose high energy live shows have begun earning them they eyes of much local press. With roots grounded in jam rock and jazz fusion, the band's all-encompassing mix of influence and progressive song structure cast off the musical limitaitons of both. The band just released a few tracks on iTunes, Amazon MP3, and CDbaby, and is fresh off last night's set opening for Kung Fu. Following them will be Nietzsche's favorites and Slyboots' family members, Peanut Brittle Satellite. PBS has earned quite a reputation in Buffalo, and their abstract use of instrumentation sets them apart from the typical rock ensemble format. The progressive minded sextet incorporates dual drumming, violin, glockenspiel, and synths into their bass heavy, jazz infused funk rock. Wildly energetic and intricate, PBS has a style all their own. Closing out the night will be the ever tight, often improvising Aqueous. Aqueous' light spirited, incredibly structured, yet loose jam styles are reminiscent of bands like Umphrey's McGee; tight and composed, with much freedom for improvisation. The layered percussion blends perfectly with the delay and echo laden guitar effects, creating a dynamics driven sound that helps build, and release, musical tension. The band released their first full length LP in April (available on iTunes, Amazon, and CDbaby), just recently launched their own Pandora radio station, and are about to start a small tour of Upstate NY. This will no doubt be a fantastic night of live music. The doors at Nietzsche's will be open at 9:30pm, with the show starting around 10:30pm, and it will cost you $7 to get in.
