Tonight: Mac Miller

Tonight, pop rapper Mac Miller makes his way to Niagara Falls' Rapids Theater.  The Pittsburgh, PA native is part of an emerging era of social media rappers, who bring themselves to the level of unsigned hype via viral video and downloadable mixtapes.  Though only 19 years old, Miller's videos are loaded the Hennesey bottles and blunt smoke of senior rappers, for some reason, his attitudes still have a way with striking a chord with college age youth.  However, unlike contemporaries like Hoodie Allen or Wiz Khalifa, Miller is a musician.  Mac has played music since the age of six, and this unmistakably sets him apart from other social media hype.  His beats are elegant, and aside from his at times goofy lyrics, some soul shines through in his beat making (though he doesn't produce all his own tracks).  He has 6 full mixtapes available for download, and has accumulated over 29 million views for his biggest single, Donald Trump.  He recently signed with local Pittsburgh label Rostrum Records, and recently released the EP On and On and Beyond.  Opening up for him will be L.A. emcee Casey Veggies, and the Come Up. Doors open at 7pm, and tickets will cost you $25 if you don't already have them.
