Earlier today, international human rights group, Amnesty International, released a tribute to a musical tribute in honor of its 50th year helping the people of the world. The 75-track (yes that's 75 tracks), 4 CD set is entitled Chimes of Freedom, and is a collection of artists paying homage to the music of legendary songwriter / activist, Bob Dylan. Named after the 1964 Dylan track, the album features over 80 artists including: Queens of the Stone Age, Rise Against, Bad Religion, Johnny Cash (posthumously) & the Avett Brothers, Adele, Ziggy Marley, My Morning Jacket, Raphael Saadiq, Seal & Jeff Beck, Sting, Sugarland, Diana Krall, K'NAAN, Elvis Costello, Cage The Elephant, Tom Morello & the Nightwatchmen, Joan Baez, Jackson Browne, Flogging Molly, and many, many more. This album is quite an accomplishment, and is an immaculate listen. Spearheaded by the producers of the John Lennon tribute Instant Karma; the album of covers put together in 2007 written to help victims of Darfur genocide. Proceeds of the album will go to aiding Amnesty International battling atrocities, towards battling for free speech, and those whom have lost theirs (here's one example). The album is available on Spotify streaming, the app "black-listed" by the Black Keys, however, Amnesty International will receive royalties from plays from the site.
