In early December, Andrew Bird announced his newest album, Break It Yourself, which is due out March 6th, and he has just released the first single off that record called “Eyeoneye." Bird is no stranger to WNY where he performed at Babeville in 2009, with St. Vincent opening. While there is no stop scheduled in Buffalo yet, cross your fingers, because there will be more tour dates added in the ensuing months. “Eyeoneye” is an invigorating track that starts out with blazing guitar-work, and floats into Bird chanting “You’re getting too close to your souls", which is precisely what his music sets out to do. “Eyeoneye” takes a slightly different approach stylistically than 2009‘s Noble Beast. Still, many will be relived to hear a familiar whistling and jingle-jangle bridge that builds back to the folk-rock splendor of this track.
On his website, Bird has created a ticket bundle which includes his live EP Fake Conversations, a digital download of the new album Break It Yourself upon its release, and another live EP from his current tour that will be delivered sometime later this spring. Also, a deluxe box set of the new album will be available.
