As the world turns there is plenty of juicy news from the Electronic and Dance music scene in Buffalo. Two new club/venues are on the radar, and those are Rendezvous in the Statler Tower and Big Bad Wolf on Delaware and Chippewa. Big Bad Wolf or BBW as I will refer to it as, has the stupidest name ever. That song isn’t even good. But the spot where it is, is nice. Sort of removed from Chippewa. Despite the monicker, BBW has potential to bounce with the right atmosphere. I regret not going to check the status of the Statler last weekend; haven’t been in there since I was a kid! Mixed reports though as to what one may expect. One thing that is for sure is that they’re sure motivated to book some big-time Trance shows with the news that Paul Oakenfold will be playing there in on Friday March 16th! That’s huge! And although he was recently voted the world’s douchiest DJ by LA Weekly, I thoroughly enjoyed the parts of the Trance legend’s 5 hour long set at Bonnaroo three years ago. Parts of it. Also, Conspirator will be returning with Elliot Lipp in March to the Town Ballroom on Saturday the 10th. The show was a huge hit last time around, and with the future of The Disco Biscuits hanging in the balance, this might be it.
Congratulations to the boys of HXLY on the release of their EP this past Monday on Heavy Artillery Recordings. Fueled up Drumstep with a good focus is how best to describe the tunes. Not my favorite style, but most certainly relevant at present. Good work was put into the production. You can catch them live this weekend at Soundlab, and for more information read below:

RENDEZVOUS-STATLER CITY
107 delaware ave. Buffalo, NY
It’s essentially FREE if you can get there before midnight. That’s not exactly an easy thing to do always in Buffalo. Or if you like the nightclub’s page on Facebook you can grab a Free ticket. If you don’t do something this easy, you’ll have to pay. So there. COSMIC GATE is a Trance duo from Germany. Definitely the deeper stuff. Not sure if it would be Robert Anton Wilson’s idea of the Cosmic Gate, but it might certainly take you there. They are touring off of their latest digital album release Wake Your Mind. Opening will be Buffalo’s ANGELO PETRUCCI. Let’s see what the new upscale digs has to offer.

TOWN BALLROOM
681 main st. Buffalo, NY
MNM Presents 11th year anniversary party ringing the return of Jungle Drum and Bass. Featuring one of the OGs DJ HYPE. What’s more is that the Ballroom is going past 1230, how often do you get to party there that late? Um, never. DJ HYPE is not a person who frequents the United States these days so this is a rare opportunity for Junglists and DnB fans across WNY and Southern Ontario to get to see him. The main room will be Jungle/DnB maybe a bit of Dubstep From HYPE w/MC DADDY EARL, HOOGS, U.S. MARSHALL, PERCEPTOR, and MARK KLOUD, and out in the Front side room will be Old-School Breaks and Electro from 3PO and MCNASTY. Big Basha appearing on the poster, will not be performing. Check out the interview below with HYPE on the Guestlist network and get a look at him before the big show on Saturday! Interesting discussion on turntablism. I hate when interviewers ask dumb ass fucking questions, but I’d rather prefer “two fit birds” as well.
EVOLve

BIG BAD WOLF
252 delaware ave. Buffalo, NY
Killer line-up of sexy Buffalo DJs and Producers. In order: AREHOUSE, BRANDON CHASE, PAUL KUENZI, JARVIS, 3PO, and SWAGGLEROCK. It remains to be seen what this new venue can bring to the table, go see for yourself.
Take care everyone. Playing with ice can be just as dangerous at times, as playing with fire. Both can burn the flesh. Party responsibly and smart. Much Love.
