The throbbing heartbeat of Drums and Bass resides in many living in Buffalo. Lest we forget the roots of it all. The Rave. Buffalo, in proximity to Niagara Falls and Toronto, was among the impact zone of Rave culture in the 90s. Many people flocked underground because US Trance was popular and interesting found-spaces were turned into all-night venues. But then people read about how bad ecstasy was, and the “man” became involved by repelling everything in the culture. The Music never died. It evolved over a long time. Trance turned back into House. DnB to Dubstep. Today, remnants of the Rave culture remain and have trickled down to the next generation. That’s fairly obvious. Party life will never die as long as the Dionysian sprit remains in humankind. How the Dance music culture evolves next remains to be seen. Perhaps Buffalo is poised to be at the forefront of progress.
In that same vain, although DJ HYPE was a forced no-show due to weather, Colorado weather mind you, the show was still a blast! And the fact that a more that suitable replacement in ORIGINAL SIN actually showed up was pretty badass. The celebration of the Old School was the focus of the party. Some Drum and Bass lovers re-united for the first time in years, and the Breaks room was a huge hit with me, a lover of the vinyl. And even thought Original Sin played some of his newer Jump-Up type stuff and took it off track, everyone seemed to be having a really good time. ;)
And if you’re looking to continue dancing, this is where we suggest you should find yourself this weekend:

You’ll see Seth Haley’s alias on all of the most popular internet music sites because he as a producer has blown up in the past year! But COM TRUISE isn’t just about the music, it’s about the conceptual idea. The design elements he incorporates in the product along with the lights and sound live, help to create a computer-generated atmosphere that invites human recognition. The music is Funk and Hip-Hop and Dance filtered through synth and computer. Glitch and Bass lovers will appreciate all that Haley brings to the table. Check out the Remix he did of “Helena Beat” by Foster the People below, one of the most popular songs last year. That is just a small taste of what he’ll bring to the table in live performance.
