Picking Up the Slack for MTV: Cloud Nothings

I know its extremely early, but this new Cloud Nothings album is easily my favorite of the year.  Yes, there has not been much to work with so far in terms of new releases, but this record is really good.  Those lo-fi, hook filled indie pop songs of their first release.  Out.  Angst ridden, aggressive, yet still hook heavy 90's emo rock(not that Dashboard crap).  In.  To top things off, the Cleveland band will be making a stop at the Ninth Ward later this spring.  The first single off the album, our #40 song of 2011(the song was released in Nov of 2011) "No Future/No Past" is one of those slow burning songs that builds tension until it just explodes.  The video for the single features a rather scared looking man floating, quite literally, towards something.....  Do I know what the ending means?  Of course not!  Well, maybe, but watch for yourself.

  1. Agreed, they've drastically made a change to their sound and it works. Lovin the album from start to finish.
