There are a few indisputable truths in this world. The Metallica/Lou Reed collaboration was the most abysmal release of last year, Screech is an asshole, the upcoming M83 show is going to be epic, and Pepsi is better than Coke (bring it on haters!). Another indisputable truth is that Henry Rollins is badass. Don't even try and argue with me...you'll lose.
Case in point. He fronted, arguably, the most intense punk rock band of all-time in Black Flag, continued with his visceral, brooding Rollins band, has built a legacy based around his intense personality and outspoken worldviews, had his own TV show on IFC, AND he was in the Chase. Ok, disregard that last one.
In the last ten years Rollins has been most known for his spoken word performances. Part comedy, part social commentary, part wake up call to America, Rollins voice is a breath of fresh air in our age of PC-ness and passivity. Rollins ain't afraid to tell you what he thinks and why he thinks it. And if you don't agree, he's alright having a conversation about it.
Tonight Rollins will be taking his spoken word performance to Town Ballroom. Unfortunately the event is sold out. Don't worry though! Rollins seems to like this area and comes back every couple of years, so this won't be your last opportunity to see him. Anyways, check out his interview below and see what he's about (if you don't already know).
