Anyone Remember...Vice Transmission?

For years, rock radio had been held captive by bloated, Creed-rock, Nu-metal and the like. It was a pretty dismal time for us lovers of the power chord. Thats why it was so refreshing when, in the early 2000's, real rock'n'roll made a comeback. Leading the charge were bands like the Strokes, the Hives and Interpol. Closer to home, a band called Vice Transmission was making waves on the local scene. With just the right amount of swagger, attitude and riffage, there was a moment when a few of us (myself included) thought Vice Transmission would go on to greater heights and possibly even "make it". Unfortunately after just one EP and demo the band called it quits, leaving us to wonder what could have been. Which begs the question...anyone remember Vice Transmission?

  1. Oh, you mean the band with the drummer who rocked 3 dollar hot topic elvis in vegas era sunglasses and the singer who was in an emo band two months prior? oof. Super rock n roll.

  2. My old band, Dai Atlas, played our first show with the VT, which was also their first show that night, and i think we played one or two more together after that. Always had a little kinship with those guys, and i'd come to see them whenever i had the chance. Put on a killer show.

The last I remembered from them, they had moved to NYC to test the waters out, and that's when things fell apart. I recall running into the singer who had moved back and was working on Elmwood at the old-old Sweet Tooth (i think?), and we caught up there...

  3. I do:

  5. shameless Steve!

  6. Oh, those guys were the shit. I do remember the drummer with the cheap glasses, but I dont remember the singer being in an emo band (this had to be 10 years ago when emo was not what it is considered today). Whatever, they put on a great show either way and were always fun to watch. I remember seeing them once at the Mohawk where they almost tore down the old stage. I also remember the skater dude who used to sell their shirts and CD's passed out drunk at the merch table a few times.

  7. terrific band. too short lived. i still listen to all the demo CDs they recorded. exciting live show also.

  8. RE: "the skater dude who used to sell their shirts and CD's passed out drunk at the merch table a few times."

That would be the one and only, Todd Nolan.
