Jon's Guide to Weekly Buffalo Happenings

We (Buffablog) say it time and time again. Buffalo is a great place for music. Promoters, venues and bands work very hard to bring you the best this city has to offer. Some day's look better than other's though. The weekends are full of great shows but what about the mondays, tuesdays and wednesday's of this world? Where do socialites, scenesters and party animals gather when there is nothing doin' that day? The purpose of this little guide is to direct you to some cool musical happenings that occur on a weekly basis in Buffalo. Many of these weeklies are free and all are worth the trip. This is my subjective guide. Feel free to add some of your own in the comments section.

MONDAY

Blue Collar Funk at Blue Monk. Blue Monk is just cool. They have a great beer selection and their garden patio in the back is one of Buffalo's best chill spots. Every Monday, Buffalo DJ veterans Cutler and LoPro spin the best of soul, funk and boogie. Strictly vinyl. Starts at 11pm.

Open Mic Night at Nietzsches
. The longest running open mic night in Buffalo. Totally free. An excellent place to get your feet wet if you're just a beginner and looking to play out. 8pm.

TUESDAY

Karaoke at Essex St. Pub- Every Tuesday at 10pm. Get your fix with Toc Tone Tad. It's at Essex. What else needs to be said?

Doin' Time Comedy Nite at Nietzsches. One of the best (and only) places you can hear legit comedy in the city. 8pm.

WEDNESDAY

Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night at Coles. A unique twist on trivia, this has become a popular weekly event on wednesdays. Find out more about the geeks at geekswhodrink.com. FREE at 8pm.

Hump Day Hip-Hop at DBGB's. Two of Buffalo's premier Dj's, Medison and Mario Bee bump the dance floor with hip hop tracks. 10pm.

Punk Rock Night at Social. Every Wednesday Ruben sets it off on the patio of Social playing classic punk, hardcore and rock'n'roll cuts. 10pm.

THURSDAY

Country Night at Club Infinity
. I'm not the biggest country fan in the world. It's undeniable that this night is a blast though. If you're in the burbs (Williamsville) and want to get your dance on I highly recommend it. $5 cover. Starts at 9pm.

FRIDAY

Karaoke Night at Tudor Lounge. One of the most popular and long-running weeklies is Tudor's karaoke night beginning at midnight every Friday. Huge song selection. Cheap beers. Good times.

SATURDAY

Old School Hip-Hop Night at Hardware. One of Buffalo's best weekly dance parties happens every Saturday at hardware as Daringer and Scott Down spin rare funk, soul and hip hop. Old school of course.
