On Monday, July 16th, Patrick Watson is opening for Andrew Bird at Babeville's Asbury Hall, and there couldn’t really be a better pairing. Watson and his eponymous band have been compared to Bird countless times by critics, which alone is in itself quite the achievement. Patrick Watson has been writing and releasing music since 2001, when he recorded his first album, Waterproof6. It has been a long way since then; Watson has gained a band to support his newer, more full and luscious sound, won the Polaris Music Prize in 2007 for his album, Close To Paradise. The resume doesn’t stop there, though. They have played with many established acts in their genre, and played in Austin’s SXSW festival as well.
Known for their unique blend of experimental musicianship and standard lyrics delivered with a classic feel, Patrick Watson and his band provide a beautifully rich sound that stands through the changes in modern music appeal. Something about Watson’s music is so universal through the times that no matter what way it is delivered, it comes across as it is, pure and genuine, to devoted fans and casual listeners alike. Adventures In Your Own Backyard, the band’s fourth studio album, was released in April of this year, and has been touring in support of it since.
VENUE CHANGE: This concert has been re-located to ASBURY HALL AT BABEVILLE in
