"Music to move the brain and booty", that statement is one of the first things you read when you visit the homepage for Snarky Puppy, the jazz/funk troupe from Brooklyn, New York (along with several transplants from Dallas).
The band rolls into town tonight, fresh off the release of their live album GroundUP. The album was shot and recorded at Shapeshifter Lab in Brooklyn amidst a lucky audience of 40 souls.
From what I've heard of Snarky Puppy so far, it seems quite apparent to me that, while categorized as jazz/funk, they actually have quite a bit of a classical influence. Their songs are wonderfully orchestrated and each note from each instrument is played in a conscious, exacting manner.
