It's the most wonderful time of the year. No, not Christmas – ‘tis the season for “Best Of” lists, a time when every music lover gets to sound off on the past 12 months of music. Whether you want to share your opinion, or are just looking for an excuse to further complain about a certain overrated album, it seems like people can’t get enough of year-end reviews.
I like “Best Of” lists for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it helps to expand my music horizons. I always get excited when coming across an album that was off my radar or a song that I missed because, well, you just can't listen to everything.
Over the next 31 days, we will take a look back on the year in music with “Best Of” lists from buffaBLOG’s growing community of writers. We also decided to reach out to some friends of the blog to get their thoughts on what 2012 offered.
2012 was a stellar year for the local music scene, so we will also be tackling the best albums and tracks from the Buffalo musical community; based on some of last year's comments, this will certainly stir up some conflicting opinions. But, here at buffaBLOG, we feel that that’s the point of these lists - getting people to talk about music and voicing their opinions.
Tune into the blog on Monday as our first staff picks post will go up, and stay with us all month as we take a look back at our favorite musical moments.
