I have to give some credit to fellow blogger and WBNY Local Show host Michael Moretti for turning me on to some great bands over the last few weeks. My favorite act of the bunch has to be Brooklyn's Earthy Babes, a surf pop meets garage two piece currently building some steam in the city. Yesterday on IFC's website, the music video to their song "Old Machine" debuted. The tune, whose opening keys reminded me of the Replacements "Can't Hardly Wait" until singer Tyler Jack Anderson's Elvis Costello like vocals kick in, is paired with a simple and clever video. The Earthy Babes guys star in a karaoke video for the song, while a group of girls seem to be enjoying themselves, singing along, until whatever they had for lunch rears its ugly head. I don't know what those girls are eating, but I will most likely pass.
Like what you hear? Well then check out the Earthy Babes full EP, which was just released last month, currently streaming and available for sale on their bandcamp page for $5.
