Musical theater at Shea's doesn't generally got covered by buffaBLOG, but for what's coming to Buffalo April 5 and 6th, an exception has to be made because the internationally acclaimed Fela! is coming to town. Originally an off Broadway production that debuted in 2008, Fela! is based on the life and works of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, founder of Afrobeat music, lover of weed and women, and Nigerian revolutionary artist devoted to liberation and upending the status quo; and it features choreography by Bill T. Jones and music originally performed by the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra. More than a musical, Fela! is an ecstatic dance party that celebrates life, death, art, Africa, and rebellion. Fans of Budos Band, Antibalas, TV On The Radio, Tony Allen, and Damon Albarn won't want to miss it. Tickets range from $45 to $66, and the show/party begins at 8 PM.
