Listener's Digest: oOoOO - "FoRLorN DuB"

The last we heard from oOoOO, the consonant-allergic producer from San Francisco, was the 2012 EP Our Loving is Hurting Us. A sufficiently dark and shadowy piece of music that owed more to Burial’s haunted nocturnal transmissions than the witch-house productions it was grouped alongside. Our Loving is Hurting Us was able to straddle the line between dance music and Houston's screwed hip-hop. oOoOO has never been afraid of bass, which makes his latest single, “Forlorn Dub” a natural progression into the rich soil of Jamaican music. “Forlorn Dub” is murky, analog warmth and tape fuzz seep in through the vocal sample, and more linear than past tunes. Reminiscent of Peaking Lights and Actress' takes on dub, oOoOO continues to impress.
