Vampire Weekend debuted a couple new songs at SXSW this past week. One of those songs, "Diane Young," will be the first single off their upcoming album Modern Vampires of the City (5/7). On the studio version of "Diane Young," lead singer Ezra Koenig's vocal delivery sounds downright rockabilly, while thunderous drums (at least for Vampire Weekend) and a short but bonkers bridge make this one of my favorite and most exhilarating VW songs to date, a big improvement over the somewhat lethargic "Horchata," the first single off their last album Contra.
