Once a month, The Underground (274 Delaware), normally a gay club in downtown
Buffalo, hosts a very unique dance party. Radiation is Facebook-described as
being a host for, “ebm/aggrotech/goth/new
wave/indie electro and more.” Last month, I attended out of curiosity, and was
pleasantly surprised at how friendly and welcoming a crowd of corseted and BDSM
bedazzled goths could be. Though I am not overly familiar with techno and
electronica, I found the change of pace to be exhilarating. Going to Radiation
is a bit like spicing up your everyday lunch menu—most of the time, you are
happy with plain chicken sandwiches, but every once in a while, you enjoy a
SOUL CONSUMING BLACK WASTELAND ON WHEAT. Just kidding—it is more like your
run-of-the-mill dance party with plenty of gussied up neo-Victorian fashion
enthusiasts. Very different, but definitely a good time. No cover, just come
in, buy a beer, and enjoy something new. Music runs from 11pm-4am.
