Subtle is not a word I would associate, even in the slightest, with Australia's Empire of the Sun. I mean, have you seen the trailer they released last month for their upcoming album Ice on the Dune? Exactly. In keeping with that lack of subtly theme, the electro-pop twosome have released the first single from their sophomore LP, the first since 2008's Walking on a Dream, and naturally, the duo is aiming for summer mix-tape status or else on the tune. "Alive" is huge and soaring, culminating with an anthemic, shout-along chorus that could not scream "This is going to be the summer of our lives if it kills us" any louder if it tried.
