There is something deeply refreshing about Savages, the all-female London post-punk group set to release their debut album on May 7. The latest cut from the forthcoming record, "Shut Up," is an excellent introduction to why this band is worthy of attention. Opening with the brief call to arms featured on the album cover, the group immediately launches into a ferocious track that does not let up until the end. It is perhaps this tenacity, this sincere anger, that has made Savages so compelling. It does not, of course, hurt, that the anger is backed by well written songs.
