Yesterday, Nicholas Jaar released Daftside, a complete remix of Daft Punk's latest album Random Access Memories. On his new take to "Give Life Back to Music," RAM's excellent album opener, Jaar strips away initial "we are back" theatrics of the original cut, not to mention that slick, funky riff. The remixed version kicks off with some clanging percussion until the familiar guitar lick sneaks back in. The trademark Daft Punk vocoder is nowhere to be found as Jaar replaces polish for a bit of grit. Whether you are a fan of the album or not, its worth checking out the new takes.
