Tonight: The Andrew J. Reimers CPX and Well Worn Boot

Tonight, CPX and Well Worn Boot play at Duke’s. I can’t match the hyperbole that’s already been written about this show and I’m not even going to try, so I’m going to pluck the following gem from the Facebook event page and post it here for your reading pleasure: Never before have the planets aligned to allow two bands of such monstrous proportions exist on the same stage.

Fresh off an appearance in the finals of Artvoice’s Battle of Original Music, Well Worn Boot might show up with a chip on their shoulder after having lost to Randle and the Late Night Scandals. This band playing with a grudge is a scary thought and makes the suggestion – also extracted from the Facebook page – “You should make sure you come just in case it may be the last night DBGB will even be standing” sound like a fair warning instead of an exaggeration. The Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza – maybe the most appropriately and accurately named band in the city – are the perfect partners in crime. The two bands just seem like bad influences on each other, which is the kind of dynamic that works and will turn this into a special and possibly damaging evening.

American Stories and Nicholas Brooks are special guests. Show starts around 10, $5 to get in.
