Tonight: San Cisco

In August 2011, Tralf Music Hall hosted Foster The People. I don't have the full scoop but my guess is that they booked them sometime earlier in the summer, thinking the band might explode shortly after. Things couldn't have possibly worked out better: Foster The People blew up right around the time of their Tralf performance which led to a high-energy, sold-out show. Tonight's show has that same kind of vibe. While there are still tickets remaining as of this writing, the comparisons between the two bands are obvious: they both play highly infectious dance-pop music and like Foster The People in 2011, San Cisco is generating quite a bit of buzz themselves.

Consider the above picture. Sometimes the internet just gives you exactly what you want: I could not have asked for a better image to illustrate the type of music they play. Their quirky, fun debut album San Cisco is a cross between Vampire Weekend and Foster The People's Torches; the prevalent lo-fi guitar probably skews it more towards Vampire Weekend. But San Cisco has something that both bands lack: backup vocals by a female drummer. Scarlett Stevens' adorable, sweet voice gives the band texture, taking San Cisco from catchy to irresistible.

Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. Smallpools will get things started. Tickets are still available for $14.
