Two of metal's most talked about bands will be performing at Town Ballroom tonight in a celebration of all things macabre.
Skeletonwitch, the bruising take-no-prisoners thrash band from Ohio, will kick off the evening with a hard charged set. For those who haven't heard the witch, check out Forever Abomination, the band's fourth studio album. An exciting addition to the thrash genre, the album contains bludgeoning tracks, thick riffage and speed... plenty of it, with fewer tracks breaching the three minute mark. This is an aural assault for purists and newer fans alike.
Headlining is Ghost B.C. (formerly just Ghost). The name may have changed but the song remains the same. 70's influenced proto-metal with searing harmonies, epic soundscapes, and Papa Emeritus and the Nameless Ghouls, this is camp I can get behind. Who cares if it's "gimmicky" or "schtick." It's fun and the music is unlike anything I've heard in years. Opus Eponymous is easily the best "metal" album of the last decade, and if you disagree with me, you're just wrong.
Tonights show begins at 7pm. Tickets are $22; more than a fair price for such an epic show. Do it to it and check it out.
