Figurehead's new EP, No One Wants To Be Your Friend is four-songs worth of genuine teen angst that falls somewhere on the spectrum between post-hardcore and emo. These intrepid youngsters got a head start on the intelligent cynicism usually reserved for sad twenty-somethings. Nonetheless, Figurehead mixes introspective lyrics with huge bursts of emotion; and I quote: "I know I have a tendency to see the bitter side of things, but I know, I know, sometimes things are great." For those who are curious, this Brand New (see what I did there?) band is reminiscent of Bayside, Balance and Composure, or Thrice - a particular standout is the initially quiet "Ten," which turns into a complete monster of a song. Check it out below.
