Tonight: Evil Things, Pine Fever, and Andrew Biggie

Tonight will be the grand opening party for Picasso Moon at Nietzsche’s (260 Allen St). Now, you might be saying to yourself, “Hey, how is this Picasso Moon’s grand opening party if they have been open all summer, literally day and night, according to the fluorescent 'Open' light, which is on 80% of the time?” Yeah, I don’t know either. Regardless, there will be a bunch of bands playing the front and back stage, along with drink and prize giveaways.

The night features numerous bands, including folk-stomp act Evil Things, who sounds almost like a vaudeville Tom Waits. Continuing the Americana theme will be Pine Fever, a ragtime-y straight forward roots-rock band that fans of Man Man or Modest Mouse would enjoy. Wistful singer-songwriter Andrew Biggie is on the bill as well. Fans of Andrew Bird or Joanna Newsome should take note when this ukulele-ist sits Indian Style on the floor unmic-ed: make sure to gather round, because that is when he is in his element. Doors are $5 and the show should start around 9pm.
