2013 has witnessed the debut of numerous bands and acts that
we have buzzed about to the Buffalo scene, notably Strange Acres, Forealists, or The
Malones. One act that emerged onto our radar in 2013 was freaktronica artist Lesionread. Paying his dues at Kevin Cain’s
Inventory Mondays showcase at Hardware, Lesionread quickly became known for
his “out-there” showmanship, which included odd parlor games and spazzy dance moves.
From there, Lesionread aka UB student Shawn Lewis, began performing live
regularly in Buffalo and eventually went on tour this fall with Cinnamon
Aluminum’s Kristachawan.
This past weekend, Lesionread posted a video for his song "Acceptable
Damage" on YouTube, and it is just as weird as you’d expect, complete with
clips of sea life, playing with the carpet, dancing around, and repeatedly
referring to himself as a “her” in a font only a mother could love. Fans of a more obnoxious YACHT or Yip Yip
