Tonight: Infected Mushroom

Let's project back to the days of Ares Light, as I, a young fourteen year old innocently searched the program plug in the word 'mushroom' and see the word 'Infected' pop up for several pages. First instinct--virus. Second instinct, might as well click on this song called "Converting Vegetarians." Mind blown. Infected Mushroom, a duo that broke their own genre of electronic music called 'Psy-trance,' has this mesmerizing effect on people for a reason. Their songs creep, not in the way a dub-step artist like Skrillex obnoxiously builds and falls and builds again. These beats sink in, toss over an Israeli guitar line, or maybe a man shouting 'I am the supervisor/get you in the backseat number.' They grow, find the main artery, and attack in a frenzy of contagious sound.

Infected Mushroom pairs up with the creator of Amon Tobin's famous ISAM set-up, Vita Motus and V Squared Labs, to bring the audience this evening a 3D mapped experience, projecting ethereal visuals on giant pods, part of their "FungusAmoungUs Tour." The legends start their live set at 9 p.m., Town Ballroom, $25 at the door!
