Listener's Digest: M.I.A. - "Trouble Again"

2013 may go down in music history as the year we officially apologize to M.I.A. for everything that happened to her in 2010. Not only is her new album Matangi great, it's time to admit that Maya was much better than we thought when it came out. Now, M.I.A. continues her winning streak with this ridiculously fun track that was released exclusively on Spotify earlier this week.

Unlike many of her tracks, "Trouble Again" is decidedly apolitical, simply riding a hypnotic groove throughout its five-minute run time while repeating a chant that will undoubtedly get stuck in many a listener's head. This is M.I.A. at her most lighthearted, so you could see why she'd  leave it off the album, which was likely intended to be a more serious statement. Still, this is one of the more pure fun tracks M.I.A. has recorded, and it will likely bring a smile to the fans who appreciate her for her ability to create killer jams as well as her righteous anger.
