buffaBLOG Video: Bryan Johnson & Family


Last month, the Elmwood Village Association presented its inaugural Buffalo Porchfest, which paired local musicians with various empty porches over the village for an afternoon of music. I liked the idea and wanted to get involved so I offered up my balcony to the cause and recruited blog friends Bryan Johnson & Family to bring their summer sounds out on that cloudy fall day. Armed with a couple cameras, some friends, and a dog, we put together our latest installment of buffaBLOG Video. Enjoy.

Today: Buffalo Porchfest


My power came back on this morning just in time for me to remind you that the inaugural Buffalo Porchfest will be going down this afternoon, hopefully rain free. Apparently all the rage in cities like Ithaca and Cleveland, the Elmwood Village Association will be hosting today's festivities, along with the dozen or so houses that donated their porches to the fest. The concept is pretty simple: a band plays on a porch/balcony, you watch, but with the fall season treating us well so far, its a nice excuse to get out of the house and put down a couple pumpkin flavored libations during the afternoon.

 Featured bands include Merchants, an act that has not been up this early on a Saturday in months, Bryan Johnson & Family, the Albrights, and more. You can find the complete Porchfest map right here. Music begins at 1pm and runs to 5pm.

Buffalo Porchfest Seeks Bands, Porches



If you want to get a little more burn out of your porch or balcony before the weather turns on us (and it so will), then here is an event for you. On Saturday, October 5th from 1pm - 5pm, the Elmwood Village Association will be holding the inaugural Buffalo Porchfest. Apparently, cities like Ithaca and Cleveland, among others, have been doing this for a while so Buffalo being Buffalo, we decided to join the party a couple years later. I kid.

Anyways, the concept is pretty simple: a band plays on a porch, and you watch. I'm down for anything that helps promote music in the city so I am looking forward to the event. I may even throw my balcony in the hat for this. Anyone looking to host a show, play a porch, or volunteer the event, all info can be found here.
