My power came back on this morning just in time for me to remind you that the inaugural Buffalo Porchfest will be going down this afternoon, hopefully rain free. Apparently all the rage in cities like Ithaca and Cleveland, the Elmwood Village Association will be hosting today's festivities, along with the dozen or so houses that donated their porches to the fest. The concept is pretty simple: a band plays on a porch/balcony, you watch, but with the fall season treating us well so far, its a nice excuse to get out of the house and put down a couple pumpkin flavored libations during the afternoon.

Featured bands include Merchants, an act that has not been up this early on a Saturday in months, Bryan Johnson & Family, the Albrights, and more. You can find the complete Porchfest map right here. Music begins at 1pm and runs to 5pm.

Buffalovefest is on Friday, May 31st from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm. Tickets are $20 pre-sale and $30 at the door. 21+ and over. Admission to the event includes 2 drinks. The first 500 people to purchase tickets will receive a commemorative poster. DO NOT MISS IT!!!! 

In just a few hours, we will be throwing our 2nd installment of our Broadway Market Rooftop Extravaganza as part of the 2012 Buffalo Infringement Festival.  Not to toot our own horn or anything, but you would be hard to find a more unique venue for this year's festival than our rooftop party.  So come spend your afternoon with us, relaxing under the (hopeful) summer sun, listening to some of Buffalo's best local acts.  And if you are hungry, just walk down a couple flights to grab some of the amazing food in the market.

Remember, event is rain or shine.  If the weather does not cooperate with us this afternoon, we will move the party to the 2nd floor of the market.  If you are wondering where to park, you can drive right up to the roof, its huge.  Bring something to sit on unless you find the pavement rather comfortable.  And lastly, bring a few bucks for the artists.  All of them are doing this for free, but if a donation bucket is sent around, toss them a few.  It would be greatly appreciated.

The South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas seems to get bigger with each new edition - evidenced by the plan to have Bruce Springsteen give this year's keynote address and NPR broadcast it - and Buffalo is lucky enough to be sending three bands to this year's hullabaloo. The Albrights, Son of the Sun, and The Tins are three determined and up-and-coming indie outfits from our fair City of Light, and tonight, The Good Neighborhood is helping finance their trek to SXSW in Austin with a sendoff show at Nietzsche's. Each band will play a set, starting at 10 p.m., and the $5 cover you'll pay will help make their trip a little easier.

After a brief hiatus from rock music to take part in MusicalFare Theatre's production of Oliver!, The Albrights are returning to their day job as a four-piece Blues/Americana band with a charity concert at the Pearl Street Brewery. The group teams up with The Good Neighborhood while supporting Drop-In Nation Education who will receive a portion of the door proceeds.
