Tonight: Being 2Pac

The "Being" series of tributes to hip hop legends has included events in honor of the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch, The Notorious B.I.G. and J Dilla. Tonight, Duke's Bohemian Grove Bar will host "Being 2Pac" to commemorate the late Los Angeles MC. The event, hosted by Deep Thinka records, Damon Bodine, as well as DBGB's will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Bodine was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is now in remission. Admission is $5, with 100 percent of proceeds going towards the LLS. Doors open at 10pm.

Uncovered Cover: Capital Cities ft. Tupac Shakur - Breathe (Pink Floyd cover)

Honestly, did you ever think you might hear a Pink Floyd cover featuring a cameo from long since deceased (or maybe he's chillin' with Elvis) Tupac Shakur?  What's that you say? No? Yeah, me neither, but here it is.  LA Indie rockers, Capital Cities, have transformed Pink Floyds masterpiece "Breathe" in to something that would fit beautifully here in 2012 and threw in some early 90's flavor of the one and only Tupac.  Capital Cities, sound like the child of a possible love triangle between M83, Passion Pit, and Zoot Woman.  Regardless, wherever they came from,  their take on this great track really makes me happy that these different genres could actually cohabitate with one another in this crazy world.
