Must-see show tonight for Beatles fans. Yellow Dubmarine, a D.C./Baltimore reggae tribute to the Beatles, is bringing "Abbey Dub" to Nietzsche's. The performance is a dubbed-out rendition of my personal favorite Beatles album, Abbey Road, complete with reggae riddim and an impressive horn section. Yellow Dubmarine's versions of the Fab Four's compositions are originally imagined; for example, I saw a video of "Octopus's Garden" sans vocals, with the saxophone and trombone emulating Ringo's melody.

Opening the show will be Universe Shark and their infectious brand of "carnivorous spacefunk." And a portion of the $12 cover charge will go to a great cause, Buffalo Outdoor Urban Education. Doors at 9 p.m.

Are you one of the many talented Buffalo musicians who lack a band to perform with? Tonight may be your chance to shine with the help of one of the city's most accomplished jam outfits, Universe Shark. The group is playing at Mr. Goodbar tonight for what it's calling a "Pro Jam," an opportunity for musicians in the crowd to join the group onstage. If you'll be sitting in, there's no need to worry about missing a key change or a segue - Universe Shark breeds pure, unrehearsed improvisation during shows, so as long as you're feeling the groove, you should fit right in. The MKGs will be opening at 11 p.m., with Universe Shark's "carnivorous space funk" to follow.

Many folks say the night before Thanksgiving is the biggest party night of the year. Maybe it’s because we’re eager to start over-indulging, or maybe it’s just that Thanksgiving eve doesn’t come loaded with family obligations the way other holidays do. Whatever the cause may be, Nietzsche’s plans to tap into that party spirit tonight with its “Thanksgiving Eve Turkey Jam.”


Starting at 9pm, you can get your fill of great music for only $5. The main stage will host the likes of Type Relevant, Rhubarb, Universe Shark, On the Sly, and Ramforinkus, while Shapes of States and Will Folk for Food hold down the front stage.


If you’re out reveling on Allen Street tonight, stop into Nietzsche’s and feast your ears on some terrific turkey tunes.

Tonight is your chance to check out Buffalo's newest live music venue at the Slyboots School of Music & Art! Come out and watch the guys from Universe Shark bring their crazy jams, which they describe as “carnivorous space funk,” to the very sweet new performance space located on Ellicott Street downtown. They're bringing out the lights, the fog machine, and the funky beets... and with raffles and the excitement of Slyboots, it's sure to be one hell of a party. Universe Shark is fresh off a great afternoon set at Slyfest 6 last weekend, where they joined the Slyboots family in an epic celebration of music, art, community and life! If you missed out, now's your chance to get in on the action and learn about what Griffin Brady and the crew down at Slyboots are cooking up for the fall... expect a lot more shows coming up!


Opening up the show will be a super trio of local musicians, as Adam Bronstein from Universe Shark teams with Andrew Moore of On The Sly and Ryan Campbell of Peanut Brittle Satellite to play as Fur Sink. You're going to have to see it to believe it.


The music starts at 7 p.m., so come early to the insanity that will be Fur Sink and stay to rock out with Universe Shark from around 9 p.m. on. Cover is just $5, which will benefits the very deserving work of the Slyboots School of Music & Art, working to make music accessible to all. The recently restored three-story building will house the venue, a recording studio, lessons and jam space. Come check it out now... this is just the beginning.
