St. Vincent Drops New Video For "Digital Witness"

I don't know about you, but I love a good countdown, and the countdown is definitely on to the February 25th release of St Vincent's eponymous fourth solo album and first since 2012's excellent Love This Giant collaboration with David Byrne. The countdown actually began when the first single "Birth In Reverse" hit the Internet last month, but now it's in high gear with this week's debut of the video to "Digital Witness," directed by Chino Moya. A dazzling fusion of Talking Heads visuals, Pink Floyd-esque grandeur, and the funky and potent mojo of Annie Clark (do I need to explain the "St Vincent is Annie's nom de plume" thing? Really? Didn't think so), it's visual stimuli is the perfect accompaniment to the song's sweet and immensely satisfying ear candy. With a new album out in a few weeks and a hotly antipicpated show in April, it's a great time to be a local St Vincent fan, and if you're new to her work now's the time to check her out starting right now. Picking Up The Slack For MTV: Moby with Wayne Coyne - "The Perfect Life" (NSFW)

After a decade of laying relatively low Moby is back and it looks like he wants a taste of the sweet success he found when he introduced mainstream audiences and Madison Avenue ad execs to electronica with his mega platinum selling Play. Teaming up with the ubiquitous Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne for the soulfully stirring "The Perfect Life," Richard has gone for his vintage sound: gently textured electronics unobtrusively backing humanist neo gospel vocals that make you want to buy something or sit in a park. The video qualifies as vintage Wayne Coyne lunacy/boilerplate: our heroes decked out in Mariachi suits, walking the streets of your town USA, singing and bringing joy to the masses while encountering Burger King, dancing gimps, scantily clad women, and roller-skating ghosts. Watch, enjoy, but instead of buying something, hug somebody.

Watch The New Video From Mallwalkers

I returned from Seattle yesterday, which was very pleasant thank you, to find this Mallwalkers video for "Future Shock." The single, which can be found on their upcoming album Shake The Rust Off (Peterwalkee Records), is a tense and raucous number from the rather large funk/punk outfit. Directed by Sugar City's Pat Kewley, the music video is a fun clip featuring a handful of Buffalebrities (term coined by local artist Mickey Harmon) including local musicians, photographers, and playwrights. The video sheds some light on a pretty shady practice going down in Buffalo these days: illegal frozen treat fights. Watch below to see the depraved outcome.

Jack Toft Drops Video For "It's All Because of You"

Buffalo's alt rapper, Jack Toft, remains one of the city's busiest musicians. After dropping two great albums this year, that FRIGGIN BOO-YAH tape, and the Teen Wolf collaborative effort, TEENWOLF AND JACK TOFT, the MC has still had some time to drop some equally great videos. Yesterday, he released the video to "It's All Because of You," a slower jam shouting out to his girls and relationships of old. Check out that Space Wolves shirt Jack is sporting in the video too. I always love the communal aspect of the Buffalo music scene, and that's a nice little example. You can watch the video to "It's All Because of You" below.
