Camp Bisco X Artist Preview: Lettuce

In one month from today, several members of buffaBLOG as well as thousands of other music lovers will be heading to one of the best music festivals in the state of New York. It has been 10 years since the Disco Biscuits started their annual music festival and its grown to be an impressive musical event of the summer. Camp Bisco X is held in the beautiful Indian Lookout Country Club near Albany for 3 days and 3 nights in July. There are 5 stages of music, two late night dance tents, a silent disco and a campground filled with the most amazing, music-loving and strangest people you can find. Unfortunately, Buffalo does not have its own music festival but we are fortunate to have some awesome ones like Camp Bisco, moe.down and Mountain Jam near us.

From now until July 8th, we will be posting previews of the different artists we are excited to see at Camp Bisco. Starting with one of my favorite collaborations of musicians, Lettuce. While the majority of the artists playing at Camp Bisco are in the electronic, DJ genre Lettuce stands out as a pure funk jazz group that is going to make you dance your ass off. Lettuce's 7 members came together back in 1992 where all members were attending the Berklee school of music summer program in Boston. The band features two members from Soulive Eric Krasno and Neal Evans (Buffalo-born!), saxophonists Sam Kininger and Ryan Zoidis, Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff, and drummer Adam Deitch. The band has released three albums together and while recording and touring with their own individual bands. It is an unbelievable addition to the Camp Bisco lineup to see these artists play together. Obviously the most important part of a music festival is the line up and Camp Bisco has put together a stellar selection that varies from electronic to indie to damn good dirty funk. It is going to be an amazing time and I highly suggest you do not miss Lettuce.

Stay tuned for our weekly Camp Bisco X artist previews and make sure you listen to buffaBLOG radio from 5-6pm every Friday on WBNY 91.3 FM where we will be discussing even more about Camp Bisco.
