Progressive is not a term thats often used to describe modern metal. Oh sure, there have been plenty of great progressive metal bands(Spiral Architect, Dream Theater, Isis and the list goes on) but how many of them have captured the interests of the "mainstream?" My guess is exactly one. Mastodon have consistently topped the charts with their last few albums, proving that metal has a place amongst the Carrie Underwoods and Coldplays of this world. Tonight the band sets their sights the way of the chicken wing. Town Ballroom is the place, 7pm is the time, and with such excellent openers as Red Fang and the Dillinger Escape Plan (who put on one hella fierce show themselves) you'd probably feel like an idiot if you didn't at least see what all the hype is about. $28 gets you in the door.
