This week's cover comes courtesy of Toronto's The Russian Futurists. This is his rendition of Swedish band The Soft Eyes' single "Young Adult". Matthew Adam Hart likes to blur the line between remix and cover, which is evident in his brilliant re-imagining of Sally Shapiro's "I'll Be By Your Side". This cover trades the four on the floor beat for old school hip hop breaks and synth bass. Hart's compositions have a sunny melancholy to them that is difficult to describe, but manage to resonate in the most unique way. The production on this cover bears more similarities to his earlier albums, such as the amazing Let's Get Ready to Crumble. Fans of that album will really enjoy this track, it makes me want to hear The Russian Futurists version of every song. I'll also be keeping an eye on The Soft Eyes, who are further proof that Scandinavians have sold their pale chiseled souls to the devil for the best music scene in the world.
