The Denzels Release New EP

This week The Denzels launched via their bandcamp two new singles off their forthcoming EP, Easy Tiger. This quartet had a great 2011, growing in both blog popularity and show turnout. On the lead single off the EP, “Black Girls,” The Denzels’ sunny, upbeat California sound is contradicted by dark, post-bender lyrics about friends and family backing out due to your blacking out. Lead singer, Tommy Hinga, proves himself to be a talented lyricist, epitomizing the life of a lost twenty-something more concerned about living life day to day than conforming with cultural norms, all the while making choruses that stick to your ribs. The second track leaked by the band, “Rae Rae,” is about the always awkward “I-hooked- up-with- my- friend-but-don’t-want-date-her/don’t-want- this- to- be- weird,” thing. Download their EP Easy Tiger now, because soon enough these bro wavers are going to get signed and their label will definitely make you pay for it.
