Field Day Artist Spotlight: Jon Kwest

JON KWEST / A Vibe Called Kwest

After growing up in East Baltimore, Jon Kwest has had a near two decades DJing, ten of those years mastering production.  Currently living in Washington D.C., Kwest is true Baltimore club.  Not limited to just that genre, he has mastered moombahton, house, blending some hip-hop influences for tracks with undeniable energy.

Currently on Think 2wice Records and was also the manager and buyer for Music Liberated, a record store in Baltimore known for visits by prominent musicians until its unfortunate close around 12 years ago, Kwest has and still is deeply enveloped in the music scene. Also an A&R for Music Liberated Baltimore Breakbeats and Club Beats Label, he sought potential talent to further perpetuate the growing music community.

In October 2011, Kwest was the headlining artist at Dia De los Moombah, Queen City Cartel's Halloween fiesta at Soundlab.  Banger after banger, his set had so many people dancing that remnants of costumes scattered the floor by the end of the night.

Follow him on Twitter & Facebook.

His "Sex Tape Soul Series" is sultry moombahsoul.  If it doesn't leave you wanting to be up against a wall, slow grinding with somebody, then I'm not sure what will.

I heard his remix of "Warning" by Uncle Murda when he played at Soundlab and nearly lost my mind.

And a little taste of B-more club, his remix of French Montana's "Shot Caller."

Jon Kwest will be performing on Saturday May 26th, for Field Day presented by the Queen City Cartel with support from New Era and vitaminwater.  Allen Street will be closed off and Duke's, The Bend, and Sample will be participating in the day-to-night festivities.  There will be six headlining performances with support from over 30 of our local artists.  From 2pm-4am this is most definitely not an event to miss.  Keep up with our coverage, we'll be featuring a spotlight each day per headliner.
