Tonight: Grass Widow

Buffalo, as a music market, is shaky at best.  Lately it has seemed like the only acts stopping through are sub-underground friends-of-friends looking for a basement and a couch, or exhaustively established upper-tier acts playing Town Ballroom and attempting to achieve the music industry equivalent of TV syndication.  Bucking this recent trend and giving us all a little bit of hope is San Francisco’s Grass Widow.

Hot off the release of their excellent third LP, Internal Logic, they’ve just recently embarked on a national tour that includes a Thursday, May 31st appearance at The Mohawk Place.  Those in attendance will be treated to their signature mix of three-piece post-punk rhythms and intricate vocal work.  Think Mountain Man goes electric. (Oh yes, there will be harmonizing). In the support slot are scene stalwarts and noted enemies of grammar, All of Them Witches. Get out and support this truly exciting show. Doors at 8.
