Minimalist, moody, multi-vocalist, mid-twenty somethings The xx have finally decided to follow-up their excellent 2009 debut this fall. The album, entitled Coexist, is scheduled to drop September 11th, again produced by band member Jamie Smith a.k.a Jamie xx. Their debut, cool and confident with mature songwriting to boot, gave the album a sense of sparseness rarely found in youthful bands. Hopefully they can keep the vibe up and avoid the sophomore slump many of us thought they were trying to evade. Also, they’re on tour. Sadly, they dodge Buffalo, but if you’re a die-harder, you could potentially go see them July 28th in Toronto. So while we enjoy the summer fun of Japanoids’ fleeting youth, get prepared for The xx’s autumn breeze—we’re colder and older than we know.
