Samo Sound Boy - "Open"
Body High co-founder and LA producer Samo Sound Boy is set to drop a new EP, entitled Open/Divine on March 18th. "Open" continues the trend of Samo's more recent work, focusing on a more subdued, sensual vibe. The track also shows the progression towards a significantly more economical sound, placing melody and atmospherics at the forefront of his sonic aspirations. With artists like Jim-E Stack, Jerome LOL, and Floyd Campbell, the Body High camp continues to impress, coming into their own with a unique, and emotive aesthetic.




Maya Jane Coles - "Something In The Air" (Dark Sky Remix)
London production/dj trio Dark Sky offer a stunning rework of Maya Jane Coles' "Something In The Air" with ethereal vocal melodies, keeping the chilled, reflective vibe of the original intact. The track is available as a part of the Don't Put Me In Your Box four track EP released earlier this week via Hypercolour records.




Factory Floor - "How You Say" (Daniel Avery Remix)
The tracks of UK techno producer Daniel Avery have a certain murky, analog style that focus on slow-paced transitions and drawn out melodic sections. His latest remix of Factory Floor's "How You Say" is typically serene and a gorgeous nearly nine minute trip that balances dreamy atmospherics with darker undertones. Look for the physical release of the track on April 14th.

Bonobo - "First Fires (Maya Jane Coles Remix)"
Bonobo's most recent album, The North Borders, features a warm, downtempo sound that is as meticulously crafted as it is innovative and experimental, making it one of the best electronic albums of 2013. British deep house producer Maya Jane Coles' excellent rework of "First Fires" builds upon the melody with an entrancing bass line and dub rhythm and murky synths to make for a track that adds a driving feel while retaining the smooth, mellow feel of the original.



Jamie xx - "Untitled"
London DJ and producer Jamie Smith is most notably known for his work behind the scenes for indie pop band The xx. His solo productions, which includes a 2011 remix album of the late Gil-Scott Heron's Were New Here along with various singles apply the serene, nocturnal vibe of The xx to a more dance floor oriented sound. The latest track to surface from the young producer is an untitled and yet to be released cut ripped from a recent set in Berlin. With a shuffling rhythm, ethereal vocal slices and steel drum percussion, it's an undeniably gorgeous piece of melodic house from one of genre's most interesting artists.

 
Sei A - "I'll Take You There"
London based producer Sei A's latest EP, Make it Work, was released last week via Aus music and according to the label "blends pitch-shifted vocals, with muscular drums and hypnotic synths." The second track from the record's A-side, "I'll Take You There," is carried by a pulsing rhythm and thick bass line. The slightly slower tempo allows the groove to flourish and make way for vocal sampling that adds to the tracks dark, hard-hitting sound.



DJ Koze - "Magical Boy (Matthew Herbert Remix)
Berlin's DJ Koze is responsible for one of the year's most eclectic and adventurous sounding records with Amygdala. One of the album's standout tracks, "Magical Boy," features Matthew Dear's almost cartoonish sounding vocals and a sample of one of the best sounding bass riffs you'll ever hear. British laid-back house producer Matthew Herbert offers this sprawling, ten minute rework that churns along with bits of abstract samples and an incredibly soulful vocal from singer Rahel who absolutely kills it and gives the track a more pop-oriented feel.

 

Cut Copy - "Free Your Mind (Fort Romeau Remix)
Along with Arcade Fire's Reflektor, Cut Copy's upcoming album Free Your Mind has the promise to be one of the last great releases before the end of 2013. The genre-blending, sample-heavy title track is one of the most infectious dance tracks of the year, and now has been given a grooving, jam-like remix by rising UK producer Fort Romeau. Adding his warm, nocturnal house style, the track is stretched to eight minutes of blissfully elegant buildups and smooth transitions that adds yet another layer of dance music history onto the already masterful track.



Jerome LOL - "What Now"
Los Angeles producer and Body High co-founder, Jerome LOL, recently included this drum & bass influenced cut on the label's 2013 fall tour compilation, which also includes tracks from Samo Sound Boy, and Juan Atkins. With an ethereal melody set to a crowded percussion track, the track balances abrasive and ambient textures in a way similar to British artists Aphex Twin and Actress. After an impressive set opening for Baths earlier this week at the Tralf, the talented producer continues to prove himself as one of the most creative minds in the dance music community.



Maya Jane Coles - "No Stick"
Known for her deep, dancefloor igniting tracks, London house producer Maya Jane Coles recently released this hypnotic tune as a part of the "Burning Bright" remix single. Featuring a thick bassline, shuffling rhythm and grooving vocal samples, the track is yet another example of the producer's ability to consistently deliver infectious deep house vibes, giving us a modern take on a timeless sound.
