The greatest remixes are the ones that can take two artists who are seemingly polar opposites and combine their techniques to create something that sounds fitting to both parties, yet entirely unique. It's a high risk, high reward effort that doesn't come by often. But when it works, it works magically. Take for example, electro-gloom rockers Cold Cave's recent remix of Belle & Sebastian's "I Didn't See it Coming". Style-wise, these are artist couldn't be any further away from each other. But when you add a shade of grey, layer some 80's synth and add a robotic drum beat, the sunny-side innocence of B&S transforms into a rebellious smoking-in-the-bathroom dance number that sounds more than suitable for both bands.
