Hess Is More has recently released a stellar EP preview for the upcoming full-length Creation Keeps the Devil Away. Mike Hessel, the mastermind of Hess Is More, is a Danish songwriter who writes semi-dance punk/pop gems along with experimental jazz numbers. The project, Hess is More, traces back to 2002 when Hessel discovered his knack as a laptop composer and retreated to perfect his newly found talents in Rio De Janeiro. After three months of writing then tweeking then writing again, Hess is More was ready for the world. Nine years later, the project is growing with both positive critical acclaim (Hess Is More was named one of Time Out Magazine’s best music of 2009) and band members (the band is now a sextet). Hessel’s soft and gentle vocals are similar to Kings of Convenience and the instrumentation is a mix between the pop stylings of Of Montreal and the danceability of Metronomy.
