The radar is lit up with many blips for you to hit up, just a few clicks away in your home city of Buffalo. Grab that chopper and head out into the concrete jungle because you will not want to miss two amazing nights of music lined up at DBGB’s on Friday and Saturday. More to follow.
Props to the startup culture mongers TOATS ORIG for throwing a killer dance party last week Saturday. Turned out to be a great after-party to the buffaBLOG Rooftop Extravaganza, and in particular The Bird Day’s sun-drenched set. I danced a ton, connected with many musicians, and managed to not get arrested. Successful, responsible fun.
Everyone who likes Electronic and Dance music has different tastes. Each person becomes separately engaged to dance TOGETHER by whatever particular music we are attracted to at any given moment. That spark hits us, and the impulse to move courses through your blood vessels. I think it is important to explore and appreciate different styles and sounds. No one other than the person playing the tunes, can dictate the tunes. Selector. So to broaden the horizon, I’d like to rehash these remixes of THE BEATARDS-Tramp for purely investigative purposes. The Beatards are Brooklyn based, old-school flavored Hip-Hop group. Check out the original, then check the variations with the remixes.
Then check out what is really good in Buffalo this week:
thursday 8/11
RootsCollider
10p-4a
21+
DBGB’s
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
RootsCollider head back down the 90, to blast Buffalo with their brand of live Electronica and Drum and Bass. In support will be two of my favorite Buffalo DJs BIG BAHSA and STUNTMAN. These two fine gentlemen will serenade you with the old and new in DnB and Dubstep, but mostly what you’ve never heard before. I would recommend this if you're looking for something to do, now that the free-outdoor Thursday shows are completed.
friday 8/12
Queen City Cartel presents
FRICTION with DAVID HEARTBREAK
10p-4a
$3/21+
DBGB’S
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
HEARTBREAK is one of my favorite DJ/Producers in the World right now. He, along with many others, helped to push Moombahton into the mainstream of Dance music. It is what it is. Some say Moombah is just a passing fad. I disagree. Producers like Heartbreak, along with others like Munchi, La Muerta, and Douster; they’re taking it a step further by branding this newly fangled genre of music and pushing it further. Moombahton, like Dubstep did, is only loosing its originality. You will now see many tributaries of sound influenced out of this one style. Which in it of itself is encompassing of what all EDM DJ/Producing is all about. Thank you to the Queen City Cartel for seeking out this show. Buffalo, you’ll truly get a taste of what’s hot right now Internationally.
saturday 8/13
MOLDY
9p-4a
21+
DBGB’S
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
A very knowledgable friend of mine said that he first saw MOLDY at the Dub War NYC with Joe Nice and Juakali. These are the founders of state-side Dubstep. They inherited Dubstep from the forefathers in Brixton, the DMZ crew, Digital Mystikz, Kode 9, Skream. The blokes who really mean(t) something to Dubstep. Point being, that MOLDY is a direct descendant of that. The real shit. Then just as Americans do with everything else that is cool and underground, we expose it! Thus rendering it’s coolness and originality obsolete. We know what came with the popularizing Dubstep in this country. I don’t have to say it. Forget that though. Saturday night will be dedicated to celebrating Dubstep and Drum and Bass and how the two have fused together naturally appease the true aficionados, the Gods.
8p-12a
