Tonight the Molson Canal Concert Series brings rock heroes, and "American band" Grand Funk Railroad to town. Grand Funk is an ever evolving force in rock n' roll music that got their start in 1969. During the 70's the rocketed to success, and in 1971 broke the Beatles' Shea Stadium attendance record by selling out the stadium in less than 72 hours. They have written several rock classics, such as "We're an American Band" and "I'm Your Captain", and have earned numerous gold records, and their place in rock history. Though they have lost founding member Marc Farner to Christian music, the original rhythm section, consisting of Don Brewer and Mel Schacher, remains in tact. The band will no doubt cycle through classics from their 40+ years in music, and will most likely throw in a few of their legendary covers as well. The free show is downtown in the village of Lockport, and the fun gets started around 5:30 pm.
