Though still a relatively new band, White Bison have quickly become one of our favorite acts in Buffalo. All three members have previously (or still do) play with some of this city's best rock groups, and when you hear them play together, you can tell they've spent a lot of time on stages and paid a ton of dues; they're super-tight. Aptly named, too, with pounding, progressive drums (that you almost can't tell are flying through time signatures), brooding and hypnotic basslines, stark yet roaming guitar wash-outs, all topped off with moody three-part vocal harmonies - they really are Buffalo's most powerful and majestic sounding band. Imagine Mars Volta and Soundgarden made a baby, then it got shot with a tranquilizer dart full of steroids and smack, that's sort of how it sounds. And they'll be unleashing it on Mohawk Place tonight along with some of Buffalo's other best hard rock bands: The Found, Velvet Elvis, and Matt Smith. Starts at 9, don't miss it!
