What is it with Buffalo's love for Canadian bands? Is it our proximity to their nice beaches? Do we owe the country something for allowing us to legally drink at the age of 19? Maybe it's just the poutine? I was all set to dive deep into this mystery for my post today, but Sean beat me to it yesterday. Oh well. I will save my theories for another day. Anyways, Sam Roberts Band, who have previously played Buffalo in both large (The Square, Ralph Wilson Stadium) and small (Town Ballroom, New World Records) returns tonight with their Beatlesque power pop and arena ready anthems for a show at the gem of Lewiston, Artpark, in support of their 2011 album Collider.
Opening tonight for Sam Roberts Band is Buffalo's very own indie rock act The Tins. Just last night, the trio took part in the Sam Roberts Band Salute show at Mohawk Place. Well, it turns out that Dave Spencer, manager of Sam Roberts Band, caught wind of this show last week, offered all of the participating acts, which also included The Albrights and Troop 556, VIP tickets to the show, and selected one lucky band to directly open tonight at Artpark. That band, as you already know, was The Tins. The timing could not be better for the guys as they are just days away from the (hopeful)completion of their $8,000 Kickstarter campaign goal to fund the recording sessions of their future album, which by the way, you can still contribute to here.
Tonight's Sam Roberts Band show with The Tins begins at 8:00. Tickets for indoor seating are $30.
