Tonight: Stone Temple Pilots

The Stone Temple Pilots, one of my favorite bands from the 1990s, are playing tonight at the Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls. I always felt like they got an unfair shake with music media and fans; they were lumped by default with grunge and alternative bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, and some regarded them as inferior. But if you really listen to STP, they always had more of a classic rock sort of sound, and their songwriting is as impressive as any of those aforementioned groups. "Sex Type Thing," "Interstate Love Song," "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart," "Vasoline," and "Plush" are all fantastic songs, and that's only naming a few. If you've got $50 to spare, it'll be well-spent on this show - it starts at 7:30 p.m.
